Biography

Siyu Yao was born in Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China. He studied chemistry at Peking University, earning his B.S. in 2009 and his Ph.D. in 2014 under the supervision of Professor Ding Ma. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Dr. Yao began his independent research career in 2019 as a Doctoral Supervisor in the College of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Zhejiang University.

His research focuses on addressing energy and environmental catalysis challenges within chemical engineering, particularly the activation and transformation of small molecules into high-value chemicals using heterogeneous catalytic processes.

The main research directions of his group include:

Catalytic conversion and resource utilization of CO₂.

Design and development of high-efficiency catalysts for low-carbon alkane conversion, coupled with reaction mechanism studies.

Development of highly selective hydrogenation catalytic systems with significant industrial application potential.

Design and construction of synchrotron radiation X-ray characterization platforms for high time-resolved studies of heterogeneous catalytic reactions and catalyst synthesis mechanisms.

Dr. Yao serves as a Young Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Energy Chemistry and Chemical Synthesis.

He currently lives and works in Zhejiang Province.
